Featured Partner: Back to the Cutting Board

Back to the Cutting Board is a great food blog based out of Virginia. After years of eating out for the majority of the week and rarely cooking, Emily finally got to the point where she just didn’t want to step foot in one more restaurant. So she started the blog as a way to chronicle this new phase of her life and to also share recipes and tips with others.

Why Springpad? In her words:

I used to use a bunch of different applications to organize work, personal and cooking stuff; and with Springpad I finally found a place where I can put it all together. I started using it to share and find recipes, but it has all these other great apps to help you get organized. I store my personal and work to do lists, keep track of all my work project notes and how much time I work on each project. I’m also using it to keep track of my diet, wishlist, and grocery list.

And, with one simple “Save” button on her site, Emily gives her readers and the Springpad community the opportunity to collect, organize, personalize, share and use her recipes and recommendations as they see fit.  At the same time, she’s able to share her baking tips and expertise (especially around the holidays) to extend the reach of her brand to a whole new audience.

Why Springpad? In her words:

Springpad allows me to help my readers by combining my passion for cooking and sharing my recipes with their unique approach to distribution. I love the idea that my readers and the Springpad community can easily take my recipes, modify them to suit their taste and share them with their family and friends.

With one simple “Save” button on her site, Angie gives her readers and the Springpad community the opportunity to collect, organize, personalize, share and use her recipes and recommendations as they see fit.  At the same time, she’s extending the reach of her brand and helping her readers learn and try new and exotic World Cuisine recipes long after they left her site.

Managing your recipes online

Cooking has gone digital. And now individuals can access recipes from all over the place.  Cooking with the help of technology has become so prevalent that publications like Lifehacker and MSNBC are talking about it. While it’s easy to find a recipe, it does pose some challenges like: where can I find the best recipes, how do I keep track of them, and how can I make them mine?

Elise from Simply Recipes has found a way to keep track of her recipes by creating a delicious cookbook. Anjali from Deliciouscoma (via Lifehacker) just laid out a detailed process that she goes through to capture her favorite recipes for use at a later date.

springpad gives people their own digital recipe box. To date, people have collected more than  40,000 recipes in recipe boxes on springpad. Many of those have been added by some very famous food bloggers like Biscuits&Such, PaniniHappy, AndreasRecipies, CoconutLime, & Seasaltwithfood.

Getting your recipes organized
You can find recipes anywhere: on the web, from a cookbook, or an old 3×5 recipe card from your mother. No matter where you find your recipe: you can save it in springpad. We’ve given you a clipper, to save recipes online. Or you can easily add a recipe, from an old 3×5 recipe card, to your collection and start using it in your weekly meal plans.

Personalize your recipes
What’s great about recipes is that they can quickly become so personal, with just a change of an ingredient or addition of cooking instructions. With springpad you can put in your cooking notes, add pictures, even take a video of your cooking process. This is a great feature for people who substitute ingredients. You always know what worked best for you because you’ve been able to make it your own. It’s like creating your own virtual cookbook.  See how you can personalize anything in springpad here.

Share your recipes
How many times have you heard or uttered the phrase, “I have to get that recipe!” With springpad you can share your recipes via email, facebook and twitter. Once you share with family and friends they can share their recipes with you, so you are never without a good recipe.

Use your recipes
Recipes are great to collect but unless you use them, they don’t really serve a lot of purpose. So, with springpad you can put your recipes into a weekly meal planner and they are automatically added to a shopping list.

Access your recipes on your phone
Because springpad is a web application you can access it on your mobile. Next time you are at the grocery store and you want to confirm you have every spice for your super bowl buffalo chicken panini you can quickly check the shopping list on your phone!
