A Preview of the New Springpad Clipper

The Springpad Clipper allows you to quickly add things to Springpad while you surf the web. Just install the Spring It! button in your browser bar and you’ll be able to save anything to Springpad without leaving the web page that you’re currently viewing.

We’ve gotten great feedback on our current clipper and are working on making it better!  Here’s a preview of some of the improvements coming soon:

Save lots of different types of things:
You can clip just about anything as you surf the web: recipes, books, movies, albums, restaurants, you name it!

The Springpad Clipper detects what type of item you are trying to save based on the website that you’re on. We’re adding new sites everyday, but here are a few that will work right away:

Add photos directly from the clipper:
The clipper scans the webpage you’re viewing and allows you the option to immediately save any relevant media.

Or, just save a Bookmark:
Don’t stress out about how to save things – you can just make it a Bookmark. In the near future, you’ll even be able to change Bookmarks to other data types (like a Recipe to be used in the Weekly Meal Planner).

Make plans using the clipper:
When you’re surfing the web and think of something that you need to get done (like Register to vote or Buy movie tickets), you can quickly create Tasks and Alarms for yourself in Springpad – they’ll include a link to the original article you were reading.

If you’ve never seen the current Springpad Clipper, give it a look! Feel free to install it now (instructions), because everyone will automatically be upgraded when the new features become available.

This is cool. Thanks for letting us know.

  2. Tess says:

I’m totally frustrated by Springpad. The concept is so great, but I can’t make it work the way it says it should, though I wrestle with various seemingly intuitive buttons. So I’ve got Springpad in my toolbar, but it’s pretty useless, as far as I can tell.

  3. katin says:

Hi Tess – I’m so sorry you’re having trouble! How can I help?

  4. Marion says:

I’m a little frustrated too. I would love to love it, because it seems to be what I’m looking for, it’s just not working the way I thought. I will try the new enhancements and then provide more feedback.

Hi Marion – would love to chat about how Springpad’s not meeting your expectations… We’re always looking for ways to improve. Send me a note katin@springpartners.com if you’re up for it!

  6. Bob says:

Just a day ago I tried and tried to figure how to clip a web page and associate to a calendar event with reminder for me to follow-up on it. I can clip the page OK, but could not get it to a calendar event.

  7. katin says:

Hey Bob – If you can hold on another 2 weeks, you’ll be able to create events, tasks & alarm straight from the clipper!

  8. Lace says:

I don’t see how to tell the new Spring It to put the webpage clipping into my notebook app. I also don’t see how to move something from My Stuff into my notebook app after the site revamp. Am I missing an option somewhere? Thanks in advance. :)

    Hey Lace –

No, you’re not missing anything! We actually removed the features that you’re looking for. Check out this list of other simplifications: http://blog.springpadit.com/2010/03/lots-of-new-features-but-what-are-we-losing/

If it’s really important, let me know & I’ll see what I can do.
